Its unique beak structure allows it to filter-feed in the mud, trapping small aquatic organisms. The majestic flamingos, imposing swans, ducks, and other migratory species have settled in the Alyki, Chortarolimni, and Asprolimni wetlands.<br \/>Why Lemnos?<br \/>Scientists attribute this preference to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Favorable climate conditions<\/li>\n<li>Changes in migration routes due to environmental factors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each year, the wetlands host:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3,800+ flamingos<\/li>\n<li>6,000+ ducks<\/li>\n<li>Various other water and shorebirds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Alyki, Chortarolimni, and Asprolimni lakes\u2014located near Moudros Bay, the airport, Palaio Pedino, and Nea Koutali\u2014are prime locations for spotting these birds.<br \/>Beyond the wetlands, rare birds can also be seen within villages.
