The international specialized evaluation competition “Taste Olymp Awards”, which recognizes superior taste in food and beverages, has announced its award-winning products for 2020, covering both Greece and international participants.

With more than 700 high-quality samples competing, four products from Lemnos and the Poriazi Family stood out. The announcement of the results was particularly celebratory for the company, as all the products it submitted received awards!

Most notably, the traditional “Flomaria Lemnos” won the Platinum Award, the highest and most prestigious honor of the competition. It’s worth mentioning that this is the second major award for the Poriazi Family’s Flomaria, which has already received a Great Taste star in a previous year.

The Silver Award went to the Whole Wheat Lemnos Flour, made from local wheat cultivated by the Poriazi Family and collaborating farmers on the island through a Contract Farming program.

At the same time, the newly introduced products—the Whole Wheat Bites and the Barley Olive Oil Rusks—received the Bronze Award.

The competition, held for the fifth consecutive year, took place in Athens from June 19 to 21, and the evaluation was conducted by the extensive Olymp Awards Chefs’ Jury Panel, led by Konstantinos Mouzakis (Mr. Chef Europe 2015, Director of the Gastronomy Club Unesco, Member of WACS). The process included experienced taste professionals, such as acclaimed chefs and tasters, under the auspices of, among others, the Ministry of Rural Development and Tourism and the Central Union of Chambers of Greece.

All participating products were evaluated through a blind tasting method—without packaging or any distinguishing features. Each judge conducted an organoleptic analysis of the sample and assigned a numerical score reflecting the overall enjoyment (which weighs most heavily in the final grade), as well as other criteria like appearance, aroma, texture, taste, and mouthfeel.

The Olymp Awards represent yet another honor and recognition of the high quality, exquisite taste, and outstanding raw materials used in the Poriazi Family’s products. Above all, these awards bring joy, pride, and motivation to continue producing their exceptional traditional offerings.

Sahre it!
