The name Lemnos is said to be derived from the Homeric word “Leion” which means a field sown with wheat. Besides, in classical times Lemnos was the wheat field of ancient Athens.
Even today, the trademark of Lemnos is the wheat fields that reach the edge of the sea. It is no coincidence that one of the most famous products produced on the island is Lemnos Flour.
Since 1981, we have been cultivating the fine Lemnos wheat in the volcanic soil of the island. True to our roots and to the tradition of our land, for several years now we have managed to revive and re-cultivate on the island the old local variety of hard wheat ‘Lemnos’. A variety special both for its quality and its taste. So we brought back to your table the authentic Lemnos Flour!
